The Last Balloon

The Last Balloon is a collection inspired by my 5th birthday, looking at it through my eyes as an adult. When I was one and a half, my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and a couple of months before my 5th birthday, he found out that the treatment was not working. That’s when he decided to make my 5th birthday the most memorable day possible.

The designs of this collection are inspired by the balloons I had on my birthday and the long tradition my mom and I created of releasing the last balloon of each birthday to the skies to my dad.
I pulled inspiration from princess dresses and weighted blankets to show the feeling of being happy and carefree but simultaneously very shielded.

The collection is hand-sewn and combines colorful prints with delicate lace. Felt letters that spell celebrate with over 30,000 Swarovski crystals that were individually placed on each letter to accentuate the fairy tale story.
